Spirit Wedmore

Spirit was born into a vegetarian family of artists sharing Eastern consciousness. She grew up in the D.C. metro area, surrounded with art, music; nature and meditation. The seed of yoga was planted in Spirit at an early age. Her father studied yoga in his youth and shared poses with her, like headstand, crow and breath of fire. “My father always spoke about the power of breath and pushing it to areas in the body that need it most.”

In community college she took courses on world religion, Buddhism, shamanism and a tutorial on Carl Jung, which lead her to Joseph Campbell. She transferred to Moore college of Art and Design, an all women’s college in Philadelphia where she received her BFA in illustration while continuing her search for enlightenment. At this time she adopted her family Guru, Maharaji, to find a deeper understanding of the self, the universe, light and consciousness. After 10 years of practicing yoga, Spirit received her certification from Laughing Lotus, where she studied Hatha Yoga, working with breath and asana. She also has a certification through Karma Kids Yoga and her pre-natal certification from Integral Yoga, NYC. Spirit extends her light and love to all sentient beings and continues learning through teaching.
Yoga means, union with self and beyond.
