Karen came to yoga and experienced firsthand the powerful transformational quality the practice has on physical, spiritual, and emotional levels. She is a strong believer in yoga as a way of thinking and living, and encourages people to find ways to apply the practices of yoga in everyday life. Her love of yoga is supported by her study of dance and buddhist philosophy, and yoga is a place where the interests of movement and mindfulness, along with a lifelong passion for music, sound, and vibration all converge. Her classes have an emphasis on proper alignment, as well as spirituality, meditation, scripture, and nada yoga, all woven together. Karen teaches primarily in a volunteer capacity through anahata grace, an organization dedicated to bringing yoga to vulnerable communities in Washington, DC, and to post conflict regions abroad. She is currently teaching at Miriam's Kitchen, a shelter that provides meal and support services to the homeless, and at a clinic for addiction recovery services.
