what did i miss?!?!?

Ever have that feeling after watching or experiencing something so stunning, so beautiful that it is impossible to form words? The moment takes up your entire being and you know, you know, you have been a witness to what you have always to wanted to see, always wanted to feel...always wanted to be a part of. A moment that flows so simply, you find yourself floating along the current until the participating energies have no choice but to unfurl and become something greater than they are alone. The communal energy surges, each soul awakening to the potential of
itself, others, the world and the universe. And then an opening... a sweet and sacred space for the soul to unfurl to the warmth, the light, to life: a soul swell. Where you can find your own line. Surf your own soul. And be content with the deep rooted knowledge that this place is exactly where your authentic self lives.

This is the feeling I walked with after the Sacred Space Yoga Retreat in July. And again, after last nights' Animal Medicine workshop with Kim, Greg and Scott. I find myself filled with Life. Power. Acceptance. Gratitude. Truth. Releasing more of what no longer serves my being and in its place, the energy to give. My soul to share. And love the way my heart has always known it could. A chorus of energies, harmonizing like old friends. Each in their own sacred space yet filled with awareness of their connection to each other and the Complete Vibration of Oneness.

SSY  is a potent and vital source to anyone's well-being.  A conversation, a class, a workshop or a retreat within the realm of this studio is a sacred and lasting gift to every soul. Namaste~Samantha Edwards

This was lots of fun.  I had no expectations since it was all new to me so I just took it all in this time around.  I love the special workshops you have on Fri/Sat nights -- a nice alternative to the bar scene!
It's nice to try something different and stretch your mind in different directions, so I give a big thumbs up to you all for taking yoga in some many different directions for us to try. ~ Laura N.

The seminar last night was amazing.  I left feeling transformed and ready to face whatever lies ahead.  I loved the way in which the three of you  explained the mythology behind each of the animals.
Thank you for your willingness to teach the workshop.  In closing, I want to share something interesting that happened to me today when I went hiking around Lake Frank in Derwood Md.  In circling the Lake I saw both a red tailed hawk and later an osprey dive down and catch a fish from the surface of the water. Could this indicate that eagle is my totem animal?-Miriam W.

Hey, Miriam - that's awesome! Yeah, I think it could indicate that right now the bird folks are pretty big in your life. A question to ask yourself perhaps - what is lying underneath the surface that you're ready to dive down and catch?

I had such a lovely time - thanks to everyone for your willingness to explore - so inspiring!

For All who want to open the heart and mind to the wisdom of the animal world:

I highly recommend an excellent book, Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews. This is a comprehensive, detailed book that provides practical techniques for recognizing and interpreting the signs from the natural world-he even dives into plants, flowers, herbs and colors.

For Miriam-I think your totem may actually be Hawk. Osprey is a species of hawk, often referred to as a "fish hawk". You also saw the Red-Tail which is one of the most symbolic. Since two different members of the Hawk family appeared to you, you might want to consider this family of birds as your totem.

Here's a little bit about the Hawk family and their meaning: this is excerpted from Ted Andrews, author of Animal Speak:

The Red-Tail Hawk has ties to kundalini, the primary life force. It is associated with the base chakra, located near the tail bone. Those who have Red-Tail hawk as their totem will be working with the kundalini. It can also reflect that this bird becomes a totem in your life only after the Kundalini has been activated. It may also pop up as a totem at the point in your life where you begin to move toward your soul purpose more dynamically. It's ability to soar and glide is part of what they can teach us. It teaches us how to fly to great heights while still keeping our feet on the ground. The red of the red-tail reflects an intensity of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual forces. This bird is catalyst, stimulating hope and new ideas. It reflects a need to be open to the new or shows you ways that you may help teach others to be open to the new. To the Pueblo, the red-tail hawk is known as red eagle. To the Ojibwa, it represents leadership, deliberation and foresight: Hawk is akin to Mercury, the messenger of the Gods....its medicine teaches you to be observant...life is sending you signals. All hawks, including red-tail and osprey, are occasionally harassed and attacked by smaller birds. This is very significant for anyone who has hawk as a totem. It indicates that there are likely to be attacks by people who wont understand you or the varied and different uses of your creative energy. They may attack your ability to soar. Because they can live up t 14 years in the wild, this number is significant. The 14th card in the tarot deck is the card for Temperance. This card represents the teaching of higher expressions of psychism and vision. Rising to a higher level can bring a rapid development of psychic energies and red-hawk helps us in balancing and using these appropriately. If you have a red-tail hawk as totem, meditation on the 14th tarot card will help you to see how this hawk will lead you to use your creative energy in manifesting your soul purpose.
