Desiree McKenzie

Desiree is an Om Yoga 200 hour certified instructor and teaches dynamic vinyasa format classes with a focus on alignment. She completed teacher training while 7 months pregnant which gave her a different perspective to practicing yoga. She learned the challenges of adjusting her practice to her ever-changing body and that experience helps her relate to student body types of all kinds.

She teaches asanas that are adaptable and specific to each individual, and leads students down a journey of mind, body and spirit strength. Desiree promotes cultivating compassion and kindness, and believes breath and movement connection allow the body to do what the mind never imagined. Once students learn the physical alignment principles, Desiree encourages them to explore their body limits and infinite possibilities.

Desiree passes to her students what she learned from yoga along her journey. Desiree learned to listen to her voice of intuition and reminds her students to do the same. She believes yoga empowers the freedom of choice without depending on an outside authority. The poses taught her to direct her power, and the breath made Desiree more aware of the Divine movement throughout her physical and energetic body.

Desiree has practiced in studios along her travels from the Netherlands, to Belize, to San Francisco, to Aspen, to NYC, and remains a true student of yoga which helps her to be a better teacher.
