Class Descriptions

All classes are maintained at a moderate, yet warm temperature of 75-80 degrees, which we believe is the optimal temperature for a flow-based practice. In every class, regardless of style or level, you will be challenged intelligently and with proper guidance. You will never be forced to do what is impossible for you. We ask that you please honor your body in whatever class you choose.

Understanding Our Class Levels:

Sacred Space offers yoga for all levels and stages of life. Below you will find descriptions of our class levels.  If you need further help deciding the right class for you, please give us a call!

Beginner's Yoga & Level 1:

These classes will introduce you to your body, how it works and to experience the many benefits of yoga. The focus is on building a strong foundation of alignment and developing proper breathing technique. It’s pace is slower so that you can experience the postures thoroughly and understand modifications that are appropriate for your body.  Our beginner class teachers are dedicated to helping you master form, structure, and breath so that you may progress with confidence in your practice. Suitable for students who have never tried yoga, newer students and students with injuries.

Level 1 & 2:

These moderately paced classes will guide you through more challenging postures and sequencing, however, will continue to emphasize the fundamentals of yoga. Level 1-2 teachers offer fresh challenges for their students, while ensuring that beginner students are offered modifications. Suitable for beginner, seasoned beginner & intermediate students.

Mixed Level:

A moderately paced class for all levels of students.  This class will give you options and modifications for taking it down a level or ramping it up, depending on where you are at in your practice.  Suitable for all levels of students.

Level 2 & 3:

These classes will offer the opportunity for students to explore inversions, arm balances &  more challenging sequences.  Students will be encouraged to use their knowledge of postures and breathing to cultivate a more intuitive practice.  We recommend you have at least 6 months of consistent yoga practice before joining this class. Suitable for intermediate & advanced students.

Vinyasa Flow

Slow Burn Yoga:

Do you ever feel that you'd like to sink deeper into a hip opener, explore an inversion more thoroughly, or  enjoy a longer savasana?A potent alternative to Vinyasa Flow yoga, with all the benefits, this class delivers a deep stretch experience that results in the "slow burn" shaping of the muscles and a killer mental challenge. In this super juicy and slower-paced class,  you will work your way through every major asana group as you hold postures for longer periods of time and practice "resistance reps".  This class is great for anyone looking for: a slower pace without sacrificing the "heat" of a vinyasa practice; a deep stretch experience; a therapeutic approach to postures.

Candlelight Vinyasa Flow

Set to candlelight and transformative music, this vinyasa flow class is the perfect way to unwind into the weekend. While this class builds heat, strength and flexibility, the darkness allows the mind to flow into a deep state of meditation. This is an opportunity to let go of your self-consciousness and dissolve into bliss.

Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

Prepare for or recover from childbirth through the multi-dimensional practice of yoga. An ideal form of physical exercise  for mother’s ever-changing body, yoga will help you cope and work with the natural transitions you experience during pregnancy and the postnatal period. Gentle stretching, breathing, and
imagery techniques will be utilized as a source of  rejuvenation, renewal, &  celebration.

Some of the benefits you will experience are:

  • ~ restoration of  muscle tone and strength
  • ~ greater mental focus and internal poise
  • ~ increase in energy level
  • ~ decrease in fatigue, stress, aches and pains
  • ~ balanced hormonal system
  • ~ emotional healing and stability
  • ~ a community of mothers who understand and connect with what you’re going through

*Pre-Registration highly recommended; Drop-ins available as space permits.

Golf Flow:

Created by a team of yoga and golf professionals,  Golf Flow™ is a yoga practice designed specifically for golfers to improve their performance and game. Come experience golf the yogic way, by creating flexibility and strength in your “golf” muscles.  Classes will guide you through specific exercises and “sets” based on vinyasa flow yoga  that are designed to promote a consistent and powerful golf swing.  Utilizing breathing exercises, deep stretching, and even your own golf club, you will overcome tightness/stiffness in your shoulders, hips, and hamstrings,  strengthen your core, and ultimately create the posture you need to swing with more power, accuracy and consistency.

How Often Should You Practice?

As often as you can! Every day of your life is worth being lived in a clear, joyful, and conscious way. At Sacred Space, we believe that when you devote a part of each day to yourself, not only do you personally reap the benefits, but so do your friends, co-workers, children, spouses, and anyone who comes into contact with you throughout your day. When we are stable, balanced,  and stress-free, our lives flow more efficiently and we are better able to handle the changes and challenges that life tosses at us.

Unlike other exercise disciplines, such as running or weight-lifting, your body does not need a day of rest in between classes. In fact, the Surgeon General recommends 60 minutes of exercise every single day to maintain your health. If you want to IMPROVE your health, he recommends 90 minutes. Yoga is a thorough and well-balanced practice that offers both a cardiovascular workout and deep stretching, making it the perfect source of exercise.

We know that not everyone has the time or finances to make it to class every day. No worries-get to class as often as you can and soon you will discover that you want to make time and that in making this time, you will in fact gain time in your day.

The most important thing is to do what you can do and stay consistent!
